According to the dictionary, Semantics is the branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning.
In order for us to design, we must first search for the meaning within what it is we are designing. We must search for information on the product, company, competition, its destination, the end user, or the real meaning of the subject or its roots. If we want to design well, we must aim our efforts at a greater understanding of accurate definitions behind the subject. Semantics are the bedrock for the project and a necessity for the design.
According to the designers, Semantics means understanding the subject in all aspects; to create a connection by speaking both the language of the sender and receiver.
Each detail is a tiny decision and the more we focus on semantics the more decisions we can make as a designer and the more the end user will find “God in the details”.
